Shafer Trail E-Dirt Bike Tour

About This Adventure

Shafer Trail was carved into the canyon wall by uranium miners in the 1950s who needed a way down from the Island in the Sky plateau to the White Rim below — a series of steep switchbacks descending 1,400 feet through Canyonlands terrain that most people only see from the rim overlooks. On an electric dirt bike, the engine noise disappears and the canyon takes over: the La Sal Mountains behind you, the Colorado River visible far below, the entire Colorado Plateau spreading in every direction.

Open to riders fourteen and up with no prior dirt bike experience required, your guide handles pacing and safety while you handle the view. The trail has been here for seventy years and holds up just fine. 2.5 hours.

• More than 7 days before your trip: full refund less a $25 processing fee.
• 3–7 days before your trip: 50% refund.

• What are the age and physical requirements?+

  Must be at least 14 years old and at least 5'5" tall. Maximum weight is 250 lbs.

• What should I bring?+

  Closed-toe shoes (no sandals), long pants, water for each rider, a backpack for each group, and sunglasses.

  March through November tours run at 9AM and 2PM. December through February tours run at 2PM only.
