Safety & Liability

Last updated: March 1, 2026

Our Safety Commitment

Safety is the foundation of everything we do at Paradox. Every partner in our collection is required to meet rigorous safety standards — licensed guides, inspected equipment, documented emergency protocols, and a proven track record of responsible operations.

We personally vet every operator before listing them, and we conduct ongoing reviews. If a partner no longer meets our standards, we remove them from our platform.

Participant Responsibilities

Adventure activities carry inherent risks. As a participant, you are responsible for:

  • Disclosing any medical conditions, disabilities, or fitness limitations to your guide before your experience
  • Following all guide instructions at all times
  • Wearing all required safety equipment
  • Arriving sober and in a condition fit to participate
  • Respecting the natural environment and other participants

Waivers & Assumption of Risk

Most outdoor adventure activities require a signed liability waiver. You will receive a waiver prior to your experience — please read it carefully. By signing, you acknowledge that you understand the inherent risks of the activity and voluntarily assume those risks.

If you are booking on behalf of minors, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver. Minors under 18 may not participate without a signed guardian waiver.

Medical Conditions

If you have a significant medical condition (heart condition, pregnancy, recent surgery, severe allergies, mobility limitations, etc.), please consult your physician before booking any strenuous outdoor activity and inform your guide at the time of your experience.

Some experiences have specific health or fitness requirements. These are listed on each activity page. It is your responsibility to review these requirements before booking.

Weather & Environmental Hazards

Moab's desert environment presents unique hazards: extreme heat in summer, flash flood risk during monsoon season, and rapidly changing weather. Always follow guide instructions regarding weather-related decisions. Guides have the authority to modify or cancel activities in the interest of participant safety.

In the event of cancellation due to weather or environmental conditions beyond our control, we will offer a full refund or the option to reschedule.

Insurance

All Paradox partner operators are required to carry appropriate commercial liability insurance. We strongly recommend that all guests obtain personal travel insurance that covers adventure activities, medical evacuation, and trip cancellation.
