  • Yes. This ride is perfect for first-time riders and families with kids ages 10 and up. The wranglers take time to match each rider with a gentle horse and help everyone feel comfortable before heading out on the trail.

  • You’ll ride into Castle Creek Canyon where red cliffs tower above and the creek winds through the valley. It is a beautiful introduction to Moab’s canyon country and an unforgettable way to see the landscape up close.

  • Plan on about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes of actual riding, with a little extra time for orientation at the corral before you start.

  • Yes. The pace is relaxed, and wranglers are happy to pause for photos at scenic spots. The canyon views make for incredible backdrops.

  • Riders must be at least 10 years old and 4’3” tall (52 inches / 133 cm), and the maximum rider weight is 220 pounds. These limits help ensure both rider and horse are comfortable throughout the ride.

  • Absolutely. Most guests have little or no riding experience. Your wrangler will guide you through the basics in the corral and stay close by on the trail.

  • Closed-toe shoes and long pants are best for comfort. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a camera. Helmets are provided and required for riders under 16.

  • Yes. Facilities are available at the corral before you begin. There are no restrooms on the trail itself.

  • Red Cliffs Lodge is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Moab. You’ll drive yourself to the lodge to check in at the stables.

  • Rides may be delayed or rescheduled if weather makes the trail unsafe. If the ride is canceled due to weather, you’ll receive a full refund or the option to rebook.
