Westwater Canyon Whitewater Rafting
About This Adventure
Westwater Canyon cuts through Precambrian granite — some of the oldest exposed rock on the Colorado Plateau — and produces a series of Class III-IV rapids that earn their names. The put-in is thirty miles from Moab, and the canyon walls close in almost immediately, the river narrows, and the rapids begin. Your guide rows with the precision that Westwater demands, reading lines and setting up for the next drop while managing the current.
This is technical whitewater in a setting with essentially no development visible from the water — one of the best wilderness whitewater stretches in the Southwest. Age ten and up; full day.

Key Policy Details Weather & Group Size: If the Moab Adventure Center must cancel your trip due to dangerous weather conditions or not meeting the minimum group size, you are entitled to a full refund. Variation by Booking Platform: If you booked through a third-party site like Tripadvisor or Viator, the cancellation window may be shorter (often 24 hours). Always check your specific confirmation email for the exact deadline that applies to your reservation. Travel Insurance: The center highly recommends purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment against unexpected events like illness or family emergencies, especially since their local policy is strict within the 48-hour window. Comparison with Other Moab Outfitters If you are still deciding on a provider, note that Westwater Canyon policies often differ from standard "Daily" river trips due to strict permit requirements: Adrift Adventures: Has a much stricter 14-day cancellation policy specifically for Westwater Canyon. Canyonlands By Night & Day: Requires 7 to 30 days notice for Westwater rafting and lodging packages.
