About This Adventure

Named for the two Civil War ironclad ships that a pair of sandstone buttes vaguely resemble, the Monitor & Merrimac trail runs through terrain that shifts from sandy washes to exposed slickrock to canyon-rim overlooks above Sevenmile Canyon. It's more varied than Hell's Revenge and considerably less crowded — a route that rewards guests who've already done the main event and want something different.

You drive a Can-Am side-by-side with a guide vehicle leading through technical sections. Age five and up can ride along while a licensed adult takes the wheel. 3 hours.

Free cancellation up to 48 hours after booking. Cancellations within 48 hours of your experience are subject to a 50% charge. No-shows are non-refundable.

• What if it rains?+

  We run trips rain or shine — you're going to get wet anyway! In the rare event of dangerous weather (lightning, flash flood warnings), we'll reschedule your trip at no charge or provide a full refund.

• Do I need experience?+

  Not at all. This trip is rated Easy and designed for beginners. Your guide will give a full safety briefing and paddling instruction before you launch.

• What ages are allowed?+

  Children ages 5 and up are welcome. Kids under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Child-sized PFDs are provided.

• Can I bring my own gear?+

  All necessary rafting gear is provided. You're welcome to bring your own USCG-approved PFD if you prefer.

• How do I get there?+

  Meet us at Paradox Basecamp at 281 N Main St in Moab. We provide a free shuttle to the river put-in. Parking is available on-site.
