Moab Rock Climbing Tour

About This Adventure

Moab's sandstone is its own medium — softer and more textured than granite, with friction that responds to technique in ways that coastal climbing areas don't prepare you for. This guided tour sets up top-rope systems at crags appropriate for your group's experience level, from first-timers building confidence to advancing climbers working harder terrain.

Instruction covers movement, gear, and how to read rock — skills that apply well beyond Moab. All gear included; your certified guide is with you on the wall throughout. 3–4 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not at all. This trip is designed as an introduction (or refresher) to outdoor climbing. Your guide will coach you through knots, belaying, and climbing techniques step by step.

  • Most tours take place at Wall Street or Ice Cream Parlor, two of Moab’s most classic climbing areas just 15–20 minutes from town. Guides choose the best location based on conditions and group ability. If you want something more advanced, we can climb Fisher towers.

  • Plenty\! In a half-day trip, you’ll usually get to try several routes of varying height and difficulty. There’s time to rest, cheer on others, and then climb again.

  • While on the rock, you will be attached to the rope at all times. These are top rope climbs, meaning you’re tied into the system with a rope that goes through an anchor at the top and back down to your guide, who keeps the rope snug so you feel supported the entire time.

  • That’s completely normal. Many guests start hesitant but build confidence quickly. If you’d like to stop, your guide can gently lower you back to the ground at any point.

  • Yes! The minimum age is 5 years old, and families love seeing their kids gain confidence on the rock. Routes are chosen to match the comfort level of younger climbers.
